New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd remained in critical condition on Sunday after being shot in Midtown Manhattan during the early hours of the morning, according to the New York City Police Department (NYPD) and a statement released by the team.
Police said officers responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 2:06 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 16, at 156 W. 38th Street, a commercial block located between Seventh Avenue and Broadway. When officers arrived, they found a 29-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Emergency medical personnel transported the victim to Bellevue Hospital Center, where he was listed in critical but stable condition.
The NYPD did not immediately identify the injured individual, citing ongoing investigative procedures. However, the New York Jets confirmed that Boyd, 29, was the person wounded in the incident. “We are aware of the situation involving Kris Boyd and are in contact with his family. We have no further comment at this time,” the organization said in a brief statement.
