Reagan became known nationally as a conservative political commentator, author and syndicated radio host. His program, The Michael Reagan Show, aired on hundreds of stations for more than two decades, offering commentary on domestic policy, national elections and international affairs. He also wrote several books, contributed opinion columns to newspapers and frequently addressed grassroots gatherings and political conferences. In 2010, he spoke at a get-out-the-vote rally in Las Vegas that featured multiple high-profile Republican figures.
The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute described him as a constant defender of the 40th president’s principles, noting his decades-long commitment to promoting individual liberty, limited government and free-market ideals. Fred Ryan, chair of the foundation’s board, said Reagan consistently used his public platform to highlight the values that shaped the Reagan administration.
Young America’s Foundation, a conservative youth organization that owns and operates the Reagan Ranch in Santa Barbara, also highlighted his work with students. Former Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, the group’s current president, said Reagan encouraged younger audiences to remain optimistic while advancing the principles he championed throughout his public life. Andrew Coffin, vice president of the foundation and director of the Reagan Ranch, confirmed that cancer was the cause of death.
Among Reagan’s published works was an autobiography that explored his experiences growing up in a political family and his efforts to balance public expectations with personal convictions. He also served on nonprofit boards and delivered keynote addresses advocating civic engagement and personal responsibility. Additional biographical information is available through the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation, which maintains archives on the entire Reagan family.
