A video released by ABC News Live captures the moment a pickup truck loses control on an ice-covered roadway in Connecticut, underscoring the treacherous driving conditions that have blanketed large portions of the Northeast. The footage shows the vehicle sliding sideways across the slick surface before disappearing from view, highlighting how quickly a routine trip can turn hazardous when pavement is coated with ice.
The recording does not specify the exact location, time of day or whether anyone inside the truck was injured. Nevertheless, the incident illustrates the risks motorists face when winter precipitation, subfreezing temperatures and residual moisture combine to create invisible sheets of ice. In many parts of Connecticut, secondary roads often accumulate glaze even after main arteries are treated, making sudden loss of traction a persistent threat for drivers.
The clip emerged as the region contends with a powerful cold spell. Earlier this week, ABC reported that snow had tapered off across the Northeast but that “dangerous wind chills” were spreading as far south as the Gulf Coast. Those subzero wind chill values are a by-product of the same arctic air mass that produced widespread snowfall, leading to the icy conditions seen in the Connecticut video.
