Demand for flexible employment continues to expand in the United States. A new FlexJobs analysis of listings posted between January and July 2025 highlights the positions most frequently advertised as both remote and part-time.

Education, health and project management lead the field

FlexJobs reviewed openings from more than 60,000 employers and identified education and training, medical and health, and project management as the three sectors offering the highest volume of remote, part-time roles. Each position on the list requires fewer than 30–35 hours per week and allows employees to work from any location with a reliable internet connection.

The firm’s findings align with broader labor-market data. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment in healthcare support and professional services has outpaced overall job growth during the past year, creating additional opportunities for non-traditional schedules.

Why employers and workers favor flexible models

FlexJobs career expert Toni Frana notes that part-time roles can help professionals acquire new skills or test a different field without leaving full-time employment. In a March report from the same firm, 61% of workers said they maintain side jobs to supplement primary income, underscoring continuing interest in added revenue streams.

Mental-health and nursing roles have shown particular momentum. Remote telehealth adoption during the COVID-19 pandemic demonstrated that patient care can be delivered effectively online, contributing to a 27% year-over-year increase in remote, part-time listings across mental health, project management and administrative categories.

While most positions on the list offer schedule flexibility, Frana advises candidates to assess personal and professional commitments carefully. A second role “can be completed on your own time,” she says, “but you have to have that time.”

Creative jobs such as copywriting and graphic design are also suited to freelance or contract arrangements, providing companies with on-demand expertise while allowing workers to control hours.

As employers refine hybrid strategies and employees prioritize autonomy, remote part-time hiring is expected to remain a significant component of the labor market through 2025.
